Event Details

Below is some useful information to help you on the day

Please bring spare inner tubes, tyre levers, pump/CO2 canister(s), energy bars, water/energy drink, some cash and your mobile phone.

Airfield Gate, Water Lane, next to Carver Barracks, Wimbish, CB10 2YA

Our event is opposite the main chipping bay on Water Lane and not the Barracks Main Entrance.

If you stop or turn into the Main Barracks Entrance you will be swiftly directed away!

You will find us by checking the map on the British Cycling website and the nearest railway station’s are “Newport”,  “Audley End” and “Elsenham”

At the Airfield Gate, you will be directed to the main parking area. This is free. Please park where you are directed and keep your speed down to 10mph at all times. It will be busy and you need to watch for pedestrians and riders. Please also keep within the marked areas – this is a secured premises and you will be swiftly escorted to the Guard Room Cells if found not where you should be!

We will be open from 7.30am which should give you plenty of time to park and sort yourself out. Bring your British Cycling confirmation email with your details on it as proof of entry. Don’t leave it to the last minute and don't forget to collect your rider number and timing chip.

101 miles - 8.00am

75 miles   - 8.15am

50 miles   - 8.30am

We'll be starting riders in small groups so that you ride over the start mat and leave the site carefully – it’s a busy road!

All changes in direction are signed or marked with arrow indicators. The signs are fluorescent yellow - bearing the words “Walden Velo”.

The route(s) can also be found as follows

50   - https://connect.garmin.com/course/8670834

75   - https://connect.garmin.com/course/6872071

101 - https://connect.garmin.com/course/3094967

There are feed stations “en-route”:

50 @ mile 23.5

75 @ mile 48

101@ mile 35.3 & @ mile 78

These will be well stocked with bananas, chewy bars, energy gels, energy sachets for water as well as plain water. There are plenty of Public toilets in villages and town on or close to the routes, do not urinate at the feed stations.

When you return to the finish you will need to cross the timing mats.

You must return your timing chip so that we can hand you a “voucher” to exchange for either a cracking locally supplied burger or sausage in a bap or choice of cakes from our final feed station on site.

There are separate changing rooms, showers and toilet facilities and plenty of space for you to stretch out, unwind and hopefully take in the sun!

We are very lucky to have the services of Liam and Colin, who have offered to undertake minor mechanical adjustments prior to the start for free or will offer to repair (if required) any minor problems but these are chargeable.

If you have an “incident” then please ensure that you contact the relevant emergency services, if required.

Also please note that if you have to abandon or do not return that you must let me know

Daniel Guise – 07952 523820

We would also like to take the time to thank you for supporting us to help raise funds for the 33 & 101 Regiments BD75 based here at Carver Barracks and we hope that you’ll enjoy your day with us!
