As the pictures show we decided to take the club on the first major mass participated event for 2015, last Sunday morning.
Thirty nine members of the club (some missed the team photo opportunities) turned up to a local Audax based from one of the "historical uts", just outside of Henham. With a choice of 50 or 107k every one rolled out together in dry but sub zero (minus three!) temperatures before settling down into three main groups rolling along, all looking forward to the huge choice of cakes, rolls, cheeses, hams and different soups all offered within the entry fee of just £12!
First rider back for the Club on the 50k was Rob Williams with a very reasonable 1hr48, followed within three minutes by most of the faster group. Stef Davis was our first main home from the 107k in just over three and a half hours and only got slightly damp as the weather changed, winds picked up and the rain rolled in.
The day was not without incident and we felt for Luke and Chris M who both brought their sons along and both had a couple of mishaps - Luke was blessed with just fixing a puncture within three hundred yards of the start, however Chris had a little more to cope with and whilst we understand that his son took a tumble that he's on the mend so a speedy recovery.
Special thanks go to Dan Judd who's good lady took the decent pictures whilst waiting for us to appear on the only real hill of the day.
Watch this space members as we gather our forces ready for the next trip out!
