Our chosen charities
As well as cycling to keep fit, we like to get on our bikes and ride in support of local causes and events.
We're very proud to be associated with The Felix Fund and Carver Barracks Injured Soldiers Fund, supporting the 33 and 101 Engineer Regiments. Both charities were set up to assist service men and women who have been injured while conducting Explosive Ordinance Disposal. In addition, we've donated funds to BD75, which marked 75 years of bomb disposal in 2015.
We're also fortunate to be involved with the Saffron Walden Round Table to help local charities.
Over the past three years, we've organised events and pedalled our way to raising:
- 2017 - £5,500
- 2016 - £1,500
- 2015 - £1,500

Inspired by the Tour de France passing through in 2014, we held our first '101 Sportive' for road bikes on the day before the big race. This has now evolved into a Carnival Sportive to coincide with the Saffron Walden Carnival, which takes place every three years in July.
In 2017, participants had a choice of a 30 mile or 50-mile route, along some of our favourite roads through the charming Essex villages of Henham, Thaxted, Stebbing and Finchingfield.
Mud, Sweat and Gears
Each year, we host an event in the popular Mud, Sweat and Gears mountain bike race series on the Carver Barracks off-road circuit. Club members volunteer their free time to maintain the course and marshall on the day.
Debden Cycles 3 Counties Ride
Each September, we support our good friends at Debden Cycles in their 3 Counties Ride around the beautiful countryside of Essex, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire to raise funds for The Felix Fund and Carver Barracks Injured Soldiers Fund.
