Hat trick of results for WV

Hat trick of results for WV

It's been an action-packed weekend for Walden Velo with three of its members achieving outstanding results in road races and sportives on Sunday 29 April. Many congratulations to you all.

CC London Women's Road Race

First up, Donna Dale came 11th place in a gruelling 56-mile race on home turf that left from Great Chesterford and did seven circuits of an 8-mile course up Littlebury Hill, through Littlebury Green, down to the B1039 and back round to Wendons Ambo, before returning past Audley End House to Littlebury Hill again. The race combined 2nd, 3rd and 4th CAT riders and Donna came 1st out of the 4th CAT contenders.

3 Counties 100 Sportive

Second up, Barry Judge achieved the fastest time of the day on the 3 Counties Sportive 70-mile course passing through Northamptonshire, Leicestershire and Rutland over 5,135 feet. Barry led pretty much from the start and effectively had a solo ride round in rainy and cold conditions.

LVRC Blackmore Road Race

And finally, to complete the hat trick, John Calvert came 9th overall in the LVRC (League of Veteran Racing Cyclists) road race at Blackmore and 8th in his 60+ category. The LVRC was set up in 1986 to provide a programme of social and competitive cycling events for riders aged 40 and over. John completed the 41-mile course over 1,578 feet with an impressive average of 22mph.

Walden Velo to participate in Prudential RideLondon

Walden Velo is delighted to announce that it has a mixed team entered for Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 on Sunday 30 July.

The club was successful in securing one of the 300 places available for British Cycling-affiliated teams and will be represented by Hazel Turton, Georgina Dunlop, Geoff Smith and Gary March.

A legacy of the 2012 Olympics, this iconic race takes place on closed roads in the Capital and through the stunning Surrey countryside - along the exact same route ridden by the world's best road cyclists.

Around 25,000 riders are expected to participate from over 90 countries, aged from 18 to 89, including famous faces from the world of sport and entertainment. The riders will start at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and finish on The Mall in St James' Park, watched by millions on television internationally.

We wish the Walden Velo team the very best of luck with their preparations and look forward to supporting them on the day.
